Almost everyone at some point in their lives has had an accidental injury. Serious and lingering injuries can be very testing and debilitating physically, emotionally, and your spirit. As your body, mind and soul are all connected, it is beneficial to address all these areas when healing.
Now let’s take a deeper look at how an injury affects these different areas.
Firstly, there is the physical aspect and the site of the injury itself. No matter what type of injury it is, there will be trauma—for example, bruising of tissue and perhaps bone, straining of ligaments, tendons, cartilage and muscle, or a fracture or break, most usually accompanied by inflammation.
With all this happening, pain and discomfort are normally felt instantly or once the adrenalin has worn off. It can linger for quite some time if it is a serious injury. Your mind will get busy with a myriad of questions and assessments while it replays what you remember repeatedly, gathering its own information for analysis and assessment. A multitude of emotions is felt. These can be shock, worry, anger, frustration, fear, sadness, regret, denial, overwhelm, etcetera.
Once examined by a professional and a diagnosis is received, the journey to healing begins.
Physically you can do rehabilitation exercises and have periods of rest for your recovery. But what about the trauma and the blow your soul has taken? And did you know that emotions also get trapped in the site where the physical trauma is!? What about the PTSD associated with replaying the scene and the fear and shock of what happened?
I recently had a very bad fall, taking me on a massive spiritual journey. The physical side of things has taken months. Being a former martial artist and living with a professional athlete, we have become quite proficient in dealing with injuries in our household, so we are quick to see the people and do what is necessary.
But the impact on me emotionally and spiritually has been much bigger than what I thought or ever experienced before. This is definitely due to the shocking nature of this experience and knowing that it could have been much worse. Somebody was definitely watching over me!
When you have a trauma, soul fragments can be left at a place or taken by people involved.
A common one is when mothers give fragments of their soul to their children when they are suffering or go through painful, traumatic experiences, and vice versa. Another is in relationship breakups. You’ve all heard the term, ‘I feel like he/she has taken a piece of me.’ That’s because, energetically, they have!
In Forensic healing, returning soul fragments is a common healing pathway. I’ve used it on probably every single one of my clients! So hopefully, if this is new to you, you now have a clearer and deeper understanding of how important it is to heal all different aspects of yourself.
Here are some suggestions to assist the physical, emotional and spiritual trauma whilst healing from an injury.
♡ Gratitude – being in a state of gratitude. Knowing that things could have been worse will do that. This helps set the intent for your recovery.
♡ Energy Healings – They assist in removing and releasing blocks, stagnant energy, emotions and trauma, and returning soul fragments. It gets the energy moving and flowing. Helps get you back on track and in alignment.
♡ Send love, kindness and gratitude to injured sights. Massaging, caressing or just touching it with this intent helps more thank you, know
♡ Visualisations. Envision your injured part in optimum health and with a full range of motion, and do certain exercises to strengthen it. Studies have been done with groups of injured people; those that used visualisations recovered quicker and had more muscle mass.
♡ Release emotions. If you feel like crying, do it. Allow the shock, grief, and any other emotions to pour out. If you are angry or frustrated, scream into a pillow, punch it, or do both!
♡ Be kind and patient with yourself.
You can do all of this for weeks or even months; it takes time to release the trauma. And just when you think everything is ok and you now only need to address the physical… you may find yourself talking to someone about it and feel teary or have a moment when you feel emotions rising again. That’s ok. There may be emotional layers that need further healing. As your injury heals and the blood flows, so will the emotions trapped there.
DO NOT beat yourself up about it. This will only slow down and delay your healing process.
Next time you have an injury, try some of the abovementioned techniques and see how it differs from other injuries you may have had. If you do not recover quicker, that is fine, but I guarantee you that the process, your emotional state, your psyche and your soul will be much more positive and empowered.
You may have some dips during this time, but that is all part of the journey. In my family, we like to call these ‘character building days’, and let me tell you, these are not exclusive to just recovering from an injury; they can pop up anytime and anywhere!
Aaaahh injuries, a journey within a journey. Happy healing!
