We all have a deep innate connection to our intuition, including being psychic. We were born this way.
Intuition is our instinctive, or unconscious knowing that has nothing to do with our cognitive abilities of reason and logic. It is a gut instinct we feel regardless of what our mind tells us we are logically supposed to feel. It lets us know when there is danger or what kind of people are around us.
Our innate inner sense overrides our logic and gives us greater insight into what may be happening beneath the surface of life and the people around us.
For example, a person may appear friendly, but our intuition may say otherwise. It may be that the person even seems nice, but something doesn’t quite sit right with them, so our gut tells us to be on guard regardless of how right everything seems. That is Intuition.
Like intuition, a psychic person can sense things innately and beyond what is usually accepted as the normal range of perception. It can take many forms because each highly sensitive person will have their strengths. So some may be able to ‘see’, ‘hear’, ‘smell’, ‘know’, for example.
When reading the tarot, it is essential to connect to the card using all your innate gifts to perceive the entire essence of the card’s meaning. At the same time, each tarot card has a standard meaning and way of interpreting based on the symbology contained within the card. The difference between a good tarot card reader and an ordinary one is how developed their intuition and psychic gifts are in complimenting the tarot spread.
A ‘switched on’ tarot card reader will use their senses, gut feelings, and the literal interpretation of a card to deliver their sitter an indepth and accurate understanding of their life.
While the tarot has often been seen as a party trick, the reader’s intuitive gifts and how they apply them to the cards make a reading effective. Although the uncanny accuracy of tarot cards can make them appear magical, they aren’t.
The person’s connection to the cards, intuition, and interpretation make the magic happen during a reading.
There are many tarot decks to choose from. When a person buys a tarot deck, the artwork usually draws them to that deck. Their alignment with the artwork often enhances the ability to interpret the cards’ symbolism effectively from a cultural and spiritual viewpoint.
The other magical connection to tarot cards is the life force energy in our bodies that circulates through our being and connects us to our spiritual essence. Life force gives us a will, vibrancy and a spiritual connection to things outside ourselves. This same energy is released when we touch the cards. Our energy is imparted into the cards by just putting our hands on them. When we use cards in a reading, our energy flows into them from our hands. Often readers will use this energy to create their reading style. Some will let clients touch their cards to feel the person they are reading’s energy, while others won’t because they do not want to mix their energy with their clients. It is simply a personal choice.
When our client or we choose the cards for a spread (particularly for seasoned readers), we can have an intuitive sense of the cards telling us when to stop shuffling or what card to include.
The other exciting thing is that the symbolic meaning of cards varies among readers. It depends on how their intuitions interpret and relate to a particular card. For example, the death card for one reader may mean someone is going to pass; for others, it may mean the end of a particular period for a person in their life. So if someone goes to a reader and sees the death card, it doesn’t necessarily mean someone will die. It may mean the end of a relationship or lifestyle or that someone must completely change their life. It is how the reader connects to the images in the cards and senses how they relate to the person being read.
When one first starts to read the tarot, there may be confusion about the interpretation of a card. This is when one’s intuition is put to work. When this happens, it’s good to focus all your attention and energy on that card and ask your intuition to tell you what that card is saying. Envision it in your mind’s eye and the scenario it conjures in your mind’s eye. In this way, it can help clarify what message is being given by that particular card.
This is also an excellent way to develop intuition when reading the cards. You start by getting the traditional standardized meaning of a card and then ask your inner self, your intuition, what it means regarding the client. You internalize the cards’ energy and mesh it with your intuition. This serves two purposes. iI helps you memorize each card by a standard meaning. Then helps you develop your intuition about what that card means to your senses. Note the feeling you get when you do this with each card because the feeling you get is the energy that that card draws on. A good reader is in tune with their energy, their connection with the cards, and their intuition. These two elements, energy and intuition, go into the cards and from there, the reader gives a clear and accurate reading.
In order for this all to come together for you. You must be open enough to let your intuition work for and with you when interpreting the cards and their meanings. The more you align with your cards, the more apt your gifts will become as they work alongside the symbology and feel of your client or sitter.
And then keep practising.
