Raw Foods For Healing

A raw food diet, eating fruit and raw vegetables heals.

First, your body is getting the nutrients it needs. The vitamins and minerals it desperately desires to heal. Fruit and raw vegetables are full of essential polyphenols, bioflavonoids, disease-stopping pectin, vitamins, minerals and mineral salts. These essential healing nutrients are delivered directly into your cells to be of service to your body as they are accompanied by glucose and natural sugars. That’s the only way they can gain entry to your cells. Our bodies and brains run on glucose. Our brains also require the mineral salts that raw fruit and vegetables have in abundance. Mineral salts feed the brain’s neurotransmitters, priming them for the best function. They are essential for optimal neurotransmitter health.

Raw fruit and vegetables also contain individual phytochemicals, each one gently and consistently serving to detox you. Detoxing your brain, your body, and your soul. And, as you are only eating fruit and raw vegetables, there is no fat in your system, thickening your bloodstream, slowing down and impeding the delivery of nutrients, glucose and mineral salts directly to your cells.

In addition, as you are only eating fruit and raw vegetables, your digestive system is not burdened by processing heavy foods.

Raw fruit and vegetables are assimilated and digested easily and readily. This means your body can spend more time and energy maintaining your immune system. Repairing damage, eliminating and eradicating toxins, and clearing up pathogens and viruses. Second, by eating only fruits and raw vegetables, you are not eating the foods that drive inflammation and feed pathogens and viruses inside your body. Which you have through no fault of your own, but simply as you are living and participating in modern life. The same pathogens and viruses give rise to symptoms and ill health.

Inflammatory foods include (but are not limited to) gluten, dairy, eggs, and all additives.

Not because gluten, dairy and eggs are inherently unhealthy per se but because they create inflammation and feed pathogens and viruses. Gluten creates disruption and inflammation, especially in your intestinal tract and bowels. Gluten also confuses your immune system and eating it makes it very difficult for your body to heal. Dairy contains fat which is a strain for your digestive system to process. And dairy fat in your bloodstream helps breed viruses and bacteria. Eggs cause inflammation and allergies and feed viruses, bacteria, yeast and mould. Additives are highly toxic chemicals that do damage to your body. The guiltiest is MSG which disrupts your neurons, weakens your central nervous system and kills brain cells. It is often disguised on ingredient lists as “natural flavour”. It is anything but. Additives also include aspartame and other artificial sweeteners.

Then there are preservatives, citric acid, and emulsifiers, all to avoid.

All this is Anthony William, also known as the Medical Medium, information. His first book, “Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illnesses and How to Finally Heal”, was published in 2015. It was a New York Times Best Seller. Anthony William gives us the reasons why raw fruits and vegetables heal, providing a comprehensive explanation of what holistic practitioners and natural health movements over this century and the last knew from observation and experience. From Max Bircher-Benner, founder of the Vital Force raw foods healing clinic, in Switzerland, in the late nineteenth century (his Bircher muesli is still with us today); to Ann Wigmore, a proponent of green juices and raw living foods diet for health and founder of the Hippocrates Insititute for Healing, United States of America, in the 1960s; and to Dr Douglas Graham, author of the “18/10/10 Diet”, published 2006, documenting a low-fat raw food diet for reversing chronic disease and maintaining good health.

I know from personal experience that eating raw fruit and vegetables is profoundly healing.

During 2022 I suffered a year of distressing neurological symptoms that started with weak and shaky legs and progressed to trembling, tremors, difficulty walking, weakness, spasticity, chronic fatigue and brain fog. I was forced to retreat from life and spent most of my time resting. After starting a raw fruit and vegetable diet in 2023 I could feel my symptoms improving within the first two weeks. It took around four months to gain some real traction on my health and be able to consistently get out and about and have a life again. I now eat cooked vegetables, some legumes and meat occasionally, in addition to maintaining around a 70 per cent raw fruit and vegetable intake. This is for both my long-term health and because I like the way it makes me feel.

You may be sick and need a month or a few months of a raw food diet cleanse, or you may simply wish to gain the future edge on your already good health by adding more fruit into your daily diet. Or your path might lie somewhere in between.

The choice for healing and health is yours. Your body has an innate desire to heal, it just needs the right tools.
