I met them in the spaces
between — the — words
my ancestor’s ancestors
they arrive in goose bumps
and have stories to tell
. . . unrequited love
. . . unfulfilled dreams
and
regrets — those feel heaviest
There is catharsis in writing
felt right down the line
I never imagined my pen
would be the conduit
nor, that I would walk
— between time and space
Meet the ones who came before
and once in a while —
I meet the ones yet to come
