If you’ve been with us from the start, you’d know that Spirit and Soul were originally my column, my way of honouring Spirit. As they walked beside me in life, it simply had to be a non-negotiable that they were represented in the mag.
Then, as you can imagine, life as a founder and CEO got a little too busy and I needed to make the painful decision to take a sideways step and hand this column over to other mediums I respected.
Well, Spirit had other plans, and try as I might, they keep nudging me right back here as if to say, “Nice try, but you’re not going anywhere.” As much as I’d love to ignore it, again, it’s finally time for me to step back in as the author of Spirit and Soul. This time, with a rename and a rebrand.
I’m equally excited. And equally thinking… “Where in the F*** am I going to find the time amongst my endless list of CEO to-do’s, running of a magazine and seeing clients, to write this column!” But here I am, the in-house medium again, bringing Spirit’s voice to life through this column.
Now that you have some context of why I am back (enough about me!), here is what I really want to talk about– those undeniable shoves pushing us towards pathways or choices that we may not think of choosing for ourselves, or that if aware of, we often resist because we are fearful of the unknown.
Sometimes it might be our intuition, a gut feeling, a psychic download or a channelled message from Spirit. Whenever and however these nudges show up, it’s about recognising that higher guidance is knocking at your door for a reason. So, you better listen up.
Now, I’m not saying, to throw caution to the wind and completely pull your life apart if you get the nudge to. With divine guidance comes (regardless of the source) the need for due diligence, and mindful reflection in order to get clear of what is being asked of you. Here are some ways to do that:
Create a Practice of Grounded Stillness
Regardless of the message, it’s essential to be in a calm, grounded state to interpret any message correctly. Regular meditation, breathwork, or grounding exercises help you become a clear channel, making it easier to separate personal thoughts from intuitive and Spirit guidance. When you’re still and centred, messages come through more clearly, and you can better trust their authenticity and interpretation.
Ask for Confirmation or Signs
Spirit often reinforces messages through. If you receive guidance that feels significant, ask for a sign to confirm its accuracy. This could be a specific symbol, phrase, or synchronicity. Notice if the message shows up again in your daily life—like a repeated number, a certain song, or a symbol with a special meaning. Spirit will often give confirmations to validate what you’re receiving. So if in doubt, just ask.
Check the Vibration of the Message
True divine guidance or intuition carries a sense of peace, clarity, or gentle encouragement. When interpreting messages, pay attention to the energy or “feel” of the message itself. If it’s fearful, confusing, or feels heavy, it may be coming from your own fears or ego. Divine guidance usually feels supportive, even if it’s urging you to change or step out of your comfort zone.
Guidance comes to us in many forms; by combining these practices, you can better discern the authenticity of your messages and act with confidence and trust. Learning to interpret divine messages is a journey of tuning into your own inner wisdom, recognising patterns, and staying open to signs that align with your highest good.
When you make time to still the mind, ask for clear confirmation, and assess the energy behind each message, you build a reliable foundation for receiving guidance. Trust that as you deepen this practice, this divine guidance will become a trusted guide, gently leading you on the path that’s meant for you.
So, remember: the more you listen to the nudges around you, the more you hone the above-mentioned practices, the clearer your messages will become—and the more empowered you’ll feel to follow the guidance that’s calling you toward a life just meant for you.
