Overcoming Death: An Interview with Marco Della Valle and His Near Death Experience

Meet Marco Della Valle. He’s an international psychic medium, author of The Practical Guidance Oracle Deck and co-author of The Path. And over ten years ago, he nearly died. This is his story.

In 2012, Marco was at a time in his life when he was busy building his career in the media industry and working as a psychic on the weekends and evenings. He was healthy, living what he considered a good life, and generally burning the candle at both ends as most of us tend to do. 

Although he’d had numerous warnings from his sister about living a very superficial life, he didn’t get what she meant. So it didn’t mean anything to him then, and he didn’t listen. Instead, Marco continued to be inauthentic to himself and worked himself into the ground.

Things for Marco came to a head when, unbeknownst to him, he contracted Swine Flu. As it progressed significantly through his body, he started feeling unwell and lose his motor skills and ability to walk. Although he kept fooling himself into thinking it was funny and that he just had the flu or something, he soon realised it was much more severe than he thought.

“I wasn’t able to take a step and get my brain to get me to walk. I had to think hard about making each movement. I had to focus on the brain, and “I’m going to get my left leg and step forward. And now I’m going to get my right leg, and I’ll step forward”. It was an unusual experience because I couldn’t do it automatically. I just couldn’t.”

Home alone, unsure of what to do, Marco felt that he might start feeling better if he just got in the shower. Instead, Marco started hearing voices of what he now knows as the spirit world. It wasn’t words that made sense to him at the time; it was more like listening in on other people’s conversations in the spirit world, nothing significant to do with him.

“I just knew the voices weren’t of this world.”

Once back in bed, Marco’s otherworldly experience increased. His whole room lit up like a stadium full of spirits, with many faces looking at him that he didn’t recognise. Although he did not doubt the reality of his experience, it was still beyond surreal for him. Marco understood that he’d tapped into something different and, by the same token, that something was very wrong with his health. Somehow, throughout that, he managed to ring an ambulance and get to the hospital, where he began undergoing tests and procedures to identify what was wrong with him. Where other people might feel scared, Marco wasn’t. Instead, an internal feeling of peace and calm, the opposite of his usual high adrenaline state, overcame him. – Even when the doctors told him they needed to contact his family to come to say their goodbyes because he had only 12 hours to live. 

“I just knew I wasn’t going to pass. I had this dialogue in my head that I wouldn’t pass.”

Fast forward, instructed by his doctors, Marco was told the only chance for survival was to be intubated and placed in an induced coma over four days. But at that point, Marco became aware of two lights talking to him at the foot of his bed, one green and the other blue. They weren’t talking in a voice he could externally hear. Inside his head, they told Marco they were Archangel Michale and Raphael and that he might not survive another day if he didn’t do what they instructed.

He knew he couldn’t use his physical body, and his saturated oxygen levels had dropped below 80, which is phenomenally low. The oxygen mask was not working to help him breathe properly, and his organs had collapsed and were bleeding. Still, the angels instructed Marco to visualise his body healing. Lungs breathing unassisted, heart beating correctly, and other parts that had started to fail. He did. Marco put all of his remaining energy towards following the divine instructions. He visualised his lung capacity working, and he could see the number on the oxygen machine increasing in his mind’s eye. They did.

“It was phenomenal. Even my brother, standing beside me, couldn’t believe it. He said, “Marco, your oxygen levels are coming up. It’s amazing.” 

Going against the doctor’s wishes to place Marco in an induced coma, he put all his trust in these two angelic beings that stayed at the foot of his bed. They continued to instruct him to visualise specific organs repairing and reciting powerful affirmations of restoring the body to a natural state of good health.

“I said it a million times possibly, and I remember over those four days, I was exhausted. Not just because of the illness. But because I was awake for nearly four days fighting to stay alive. Meanwhile, I visualised my organs repairing as I recited this affirmation repeatedly in my head.”

Surprising his doctors, Marco slowly regained his health. Only finding out later how lucky he was because others of a similar age to him in his area had died from their swine flu prognosis after being placed into an induced coma. Marco was the only one to survive.

Feeling an intense privilege to be alive, Marco realised he needed to respect his life more. To experience all life had to offer instead of filling it with an unauthentic life that wasn’t fulfilling him from a soul level.

“I felt different about everything in my life. I felt different about relationships with people. I felt very different about my career and the people I was dealing with in my work. I came to realise that I was living a very super superficial lifestyle. Media isn’t exactly what it is seen to be, and the people that it attracts aren’t always of the deepest value. I don’t say that to put anybody down; it’s just true. Everything became clear, and I could see things for what they were where I couldn’t see them before.”

What many would view as a bad experience, Marco realised, was his saving grace and an experience he needed to have to set him on his correct path. Up until then, he’d ignored all the signs his life had shown him and ignored that he wasn’t being authentic to himself. Marco’s near-death experience showed him he needed deeper meaning in his life and to be of service. His psychic readings fulfilled this need, so it was time to ask himself why he wasn’t doing more of this.

“I think I was always destined to do the work I do now. I do believe that strongly. I believe I now do what I was put on this earth plane to do. I don’t think I would have gotten swine flu if I had decided to do it earlier.” 

Years later and Marco hasn’t looked back. Now when he shares his story and the lessons he received from his experience, he does so with a smile. He understands wholeheartedly the far-reaching impact his experience of overcoming death had on redirecting him towards the incredible life he lives now in service to both spirit and others and himself.
