Self-love has been the buzzword floating around for a few years now. Modern-day gurus advising us to take some much-needed personal time to look after ourselves is all well and good; however, self-love is pretty pointless if you are a hot mess, right?
Do you hear the words, “self-love” and think, “Pfft, who would love me?”
Keep reading, my love; allow me to offer you a new path forward—a path where you can accept yourself, just as you are.
Often there is a misconception that to love yourself, you must believe that all of you is perfect. I am here to help you reframe this. To gift you the opportunity to understand and accept that self-love is about meeting you, exactly where you are, right now – viewing yourself as a whole being and embracing all of the pieces that have put you together.
The most effective way to meet your ideal version of yourself is to be comfortable with the version of you that you are right now. This allows you to move forward with love, reaching towards what you want to achieve.
When we act from love, magical things happen. The law of attraction states that like attracts like. So, when we put out good vibes about ourselves, more things to feel good about ourselves will show up for us. We then act from the energy of love, and our intention is for the highest good. We shift our energy to doing things that make us feel good rather than punishing ourselves for not yet being at the point we want to be.
Here is an example, if the ideal version of you that you are creating is, let’s say, 5kgs lighter than your current self. If we accept where we are now and move forward with love, we take aligned, inspired action towards our goal, and the process feels good. Whereas, if we are uncomfortable with who we are now and want to be as far away from this version as quickly as possible, we take action out of fear and likely punish ourselves. This is low-vibration energy, and it keeps us stuck in negativity.
Fall in love with the journey. Have you ever been living through one of life’s seasons, downgrading yourself? Yet when you fast forward five years and look back on that season so fondly, perhaps even wishing that you were back in that body, or with that mindset etc.
We often distort our memories when we are unsatisfied with our current reality. Allow yourself to bring awareness to this. Where you are right now is perfect. You have an incredible opportunity to either pivot and lean in the direction you desire to move in or enjoy exactly where you are. Everything that you experience serves a purpose.
Whether for a season or a reason, you are exactly where you are meant to be.
Each chapter in your journey has led you to the version of you now. The challenging times are preparation for the beautiful times, and they hold beauty in themselves too. When a challenge is embraced, you release resistance and encourage flow.
Now is the perfect time to release your resistance around who you look at when you face the mirror. Allow yourself to revel in gratitude for all you are and all you will be. Meet yourself where you are in your journey right now. Speak kind words to yourself through your internal dialogue. Cultivate a positive environment that reflects a loving reality externally.
You are a powerful being. You are creating your life. Are you creating it for you or against you?
