Have you ever walked into a room where the vibe feels off? Have you experienced having an awesome morning, where you’ve been feeling on top of the world, and suddenly you come in contact with someone? Have you gone from feeling fabulous to feeling in a funk in just one interaction?
Whether positive or negative, our energy is infectious. How we feel can play a significant role in the day of those around us and vice versa. How you consciously exert your energy is important for many reasons. The key point here is being conscious – making an effort to be aware of your energy.
Our energy, or vibe, can impact the language we use, the clothes we wear, how we choose to treat those around us, and how we manage the little voice in our minds.
It is each individual’s responsibility to manage their energy, as well as how they receive the energy of others. Until this point, perhaps you have not made a conscious decision to be aware of your own energy output or the energy you receive.
Can you remember encountering someone who felt like sunshine in human form or like a warm, calm and welcomed hug? Were you open to receiving this beautiful energy or resistant? It is a choice for us to make with awareness of whether to take on someone else’s energy output or leave it to them.
So why does the energy of those around us so easily impact us? Our state of mind and emotions determine this. When we feel vulnerable or uncertain, we seek confirmation from those around us. Is how we are feeling real, or is there a better option? Cue; a person who has had a challenging morning enters the room and wants to vent their frustrations about the world. Suddenly, there is an external confirmation; other people experience similar emotions to you in a similar timeframe – validation.
Consider a different perspective. When we come from a place of security and grounded energy, we aren’t unconsciously scanning and searching those around us for validation. Instead, we can see the experiences in real time for what they are.
Protect your energy by bringing awareness into your daily experiences by being present. Create a grounding practice by finding your way to connect with yourself. Scan your energy, feel into your body, and be honest with your feelings and where. Allow yourself to identify any areas needing love or attention, and visualise a colour in these areas. Find your personalised practice to connect. A practice that works for you and can be done whenever you feel the need.
To set energetic boundaries, define your intention. What energy serves you, and what does not. Create your intention and boundary-based around this. You may set your energetic boundaries during your practice. This may include visualisation, sound, writing, and movement. Again, find your way.
Consider your energy in real-time and if this energy is something that you’d like to share or prefer to reserve. Is the energy you are experiencing energy you’d like to project?
It is absolutely essential for you to experience a range of emotions. Here, I am referring to the energy you are bringing into the space of others and your conscious knowledge of it. Set your intention for the energy you want to embody and display and move towards that energy.
Find your practice to bring more conscious awareness into your world, and have the ability to recognise the energy and vibe of yourself and others. Giving you the opportunity to accept what you want and move past what you do not. No more catching bad vibes from negative Nancy. Process your negative energy in a way that is productive for you, and choose what comes next.
